Drum and Bass Producer and DJ, Soul Intent lashes out with a nice little mix, first heard on Kane FM. From start to finish the theme is dark and moody here but the track order, combination and selection make it stand out from the host of mixes on offer.
Soul Intent kicks off with some minimal pieces from Tokyo Prose – The Truth and Soul Intent – Hurt Me before increasing the pace after a must hear bit of Dub Phizix on the track Domepiece. There’s a rich mixture of dubs on this mix, adding interest over the usual mainstream Drum and Bass concoction. Easily the best part of this mix is at the end, where a splash of Doc Scott heats things up, followed by Soul Intents own – Bad Robot.
Rene LaWorld – Just Words, has to be heard - BOOM!
The Drumsound & Bassline Smith studio podcast series should never be missed and the story doesn’t change for their winter 2011 mix. For this instalment the boys kick off where they left, paying homage to their most recent big tracks, ‘Closer’ and ‘Freak’. As expected this mix is packed full of powerful rushing DrumStep and DnB.
Smasher after smasher is delivered with mixing highlights peppered throughout, there are some deep rollers in there to, just to mix it up. Highlights include Camo & Krooked - Cross Thew LIne ( Metrik Mix ) with its classy little guitar and huge drop followed by the awesome TC - Drug Fuct. To finish that part off with the Tantrum Desire Mix of Wideboys Ft Natalia - Addicted to The Bass and Cyantifics ‘Touch me’ is just pure class. To be honest Drumsound & Bassline Smith just pull it out the bag at every turn.
Whoops - Forgot to mention the massive exclusive of Shadow ( Tee Bee & Calyx Mix ) at 40mins BOOM!

There’s plenty of mixes out there from DJs and artists raining in 2011 and it’s taken a good part of a month to get an ear on some of the best.
From the Drum and Bass domain, Lenzman looks to the future, with a very special Drum and Bass mix featuring some patient MCing from Dan Stezo. This mix features a broad spectrum of DnB, ranging from deep, intelligent vibes through to some Liquid rollers. Rolling basslines are the main ingredients here but highlights are present when Lenzman changes up the soundscape with Dub Phizix & Skeptical – Rags, from Exit Records. The Dutch mixmaster also drops in a deep Drumstep bootleg for Aaliyah ‘Try Again’, a nice touch, helping to make this mix unmissable.

DJ sets from Mr Scruff cross multiple genres, including Hip-Hop, Dub, Breaks and House. Recently he’s been showering us with recordings from his 5hr sets for Band on the Wall. All of it is worth getting your ears on but when this legend dips into his past then something truly special emerges.
In 1992 a young Scruff, full of life and vigor, put together a mix, copied it onto 20 blank cassettes and handed them over to his local record shop. 18 years later a wiser Mr Scruff uploaded a copy of that mix onto a website called Soundcloud.com. The marriage of almost 2 decades of technology came together for all to enjoy. This mix is a cracker, with 84 funk fuelled Jazz inspired Hip-Hop cuts rammed into 48 mins.
