DJ Blakey

In preparation for what’s looking to be yet another excellent evening at London based, DJ Blakey has put together a tasty 35 min mix of Garage and House.  The mix kicks of with some class US House tracks before launching in with Wookies – Storm and from this it’s all about a mature, cool and intelligent Garage sound.

DJ Blakey has done well here to rub in some new Garage sounds, always good to hear.  Mixing brilliantly from Groove Chronicles - Black Puppet  to the more recent Between Me & You from Enigma Dubz Blakey really ups the quality tracks a notch as this mix ends.

Personal favourite for me might be Totte - Restless but that’s just opinion and probably was down to DJ Blakeys switch in mood.

Peaceful Solitude Mix - Aaron Static and MrSuicideSheep team up for an inspirational piece

Heralding from Melbourne, Australia, Aaron Static has been putting out an array of sounds from Drum and Bass to House for some time now.  About a month ago he joined with MrSuicideSheep to put together a mix from a compilation of handpicked tracks.   The result is the epic ‘Peaceful Solitude’ mix.  A rich blend of House vides and Dubstep, which follows a slowly escalating path from laidback to raucous highs.

Peaceful Solitude (Compiled by MrSuicideSheep) by Aaron Static

The first laidback section mellows the listener to the core.  With tracks from Essay, Burel and Rameses B this was always going to be a good listen.  Mr Static has also quite brilliantly ensured that he keeps a good cross genre selection, with tracks maintaining their roots in House to Dub and Garage.  Of cause the dominant theme is theat this section of the mix is chilled to the core.

At 35 mins  the sound levels peek to the point where the journey truly becomes a second episode.  The drop of Minnesotas Remix Mimi Page & Shotgun Radio - A Bad Place kicks it all off with its massive synths and angelic vocal.  Throughout the rest of the mix expect big drops and even bigger choral synth lines and of cause Aaron will always splice it up with some different beats in the selection.

At 59 mins the mix returns back to it's chilled demeaner, as if to lull the listener to sleep.  Aaron Static has created a perfect example of how essential track selection and no nonsense mixing can create something which result in something greater than the sum of its parts.
